The Wheel of Time TV Show

What we know:

Network: Unknown but there is one!
Production Studio - Sony Pictures Television
Production Company - Radar Pictures
Show Runner - Rafe Judkins
Executive Producers - Ted FieldMike WeberDarren LemkeRed Eagle
Consulting Producer - Harriet McDougal

News:

(22 April 2018) Harriet McDougal confirmed that the show does have a distributor/network attached. This has been widely speculated but had not been confirmed by anyone attached to the show. No word on who, but Amazon remains the favorite given what's below and she said it wasn't a traditional network.

(9 April 2018) Head of Genre/Event series at Amazon Studio's Confirms Dark Tower via Twitter then deletes tweet. Though not directly related to WoT, this does lend credence to the Deadline article mentioned below. Narg was highly skeptical of WoT actually being in development with Amazon based on just that article, but it would seem highly probable that it is, now that the DT part has been proven correct. Also worth noting is that The DT showrunner mentioned having just completed a new script, and we know Rafe via Instagram inferred he had a deadline for his WoT script coming up a few weeks ago. Could be that they had the same Deadline.

(21 Feb 2018) In an article by Deadline concerning Amazon picking up Iain M. Banks’ classic sci-fi Culture book series, the following was said:
As part of the effort, Amazon made a mega deal for a Lord Of the Rings TV series and is developing a slew of high-profile titles, including The Dark TowerWheel of Time, Ringworld, Lazarus and Snow Crash.
Error, wishful thinking or letting the cat out of the bag? Which ever it is, Narg isn't believing it until Amazon themselves announce it or Deadline actually reports the news in a dedicated article.

Quite a few news websites have reported the story, most of them focusing on The Dark Tower mention using the above quote as their source. Screenrant.com and IGN being the biggest of the bunch, but major Industry sites like Variety, The Hollywood Reporter haven't. Tor.com is also choosing not to bite yet.

Attempts by Narg and others to get clarification from Deadline have yielded zero results and all Amazon had to say was:
Amazon.com does not comment about rumors or speculative news reports.
In conclusion, it's up to you whether you think the news of two major bestselling book franchises being picked up by Amazon, only merits a three line offhand mention. Clearly some people do, while others don't. It could turn out to be true, but INO there is no way that Amazon or Deadline would have wanted the news to come out like that.

(9 Feb 2018) Ted Field is in the news again and promoting The Wheel of Time.

In an article on Deadline he had the following to say:
"If Beirut is arriving at a difficult time, Field believes his TV show with Sony, Wheel of Time, may find its moment. The show is set in the distant future when women now rule a universe that has been all but destroyed by the male power structure – “the ultimate gender dynamics series,” Field says. The show is based on a series of 14 volumes written by Robert Jordan (pen name for James O. Rigney Jr). “Timing is part of the roller coaster ride,” Field observes.
(2 Feb 2018) Rafe Judkins the Wheel of Time Showrunner teased us with the Hashtag #WoTmeets LotR from Guatemala where he was on a writers retreat, seemingly indicating he was working on WoT.

Three weeks ago it was announced that Rafe had been picked to rewrite the Uncharted Movie. Looks like that gig isn't getting in the way of him working on WoT.

(18 Jan 2018) Ted Fields Lawyer spoke to the Hollywood Reporter and teased us with this:
One of those announcements will be a television series for Wheel of Time
Other than that not a peep since JordanCon back in April 2017, at which we learnt the following:
Sony Pictures Television has signed a contract with executive producer Ted Field of Radar Productions (with whom Bandersnatch Group signed a contract last year) to develop a TV production of the Wheel of Time series.
And a week or so later:
We understand that Rafe and Ted are currently in discussions with a number of content distributors/networks, and that negotiations will be concluded soon. Sorry, we don't know who they are.

Rohit's a great Customer Service rep!

If this is real, Rohit most likely just read the "Now in development for TV" line that is at the top of the listing for every WoT book on Amazon. The "will soon be launched" part seems to indicate he's not in the know. Real or fake, it has amusement value, so Narg share. Narg will wait for the official announcement from Jeff Bezos, before doing a happy dance....no offense Rohit.

General Wheel of Time News

E: Whose idea was it to begin Wheel of Time Spoilers?
P: It was definitely Seth's idea to try to start recording the conversations we were already having, and put them into some kind of podcast format.   It really started as two friends having a couple beers and talking about our favorite books.  Then we put a laptop and a microphone in between us.  All the social media interaction, the Discord server, live listening and discussion, merch, that all came later, and mostly by listener request. Those requests have been the major driving force in the development of the podcast over time.  We never even expected it to pay for itself until listeners sent us messages offering to help pay for hosting fees, software, equipment, and time.  We expected a hobby, but the awesome, kind-hearted, and dedicated fans of the series have turned us into something more sophisticated than that.  I think it's what they wanted, and we just went with it, because we were just happy that there was so much interest in our geeky projects.
The Wheel of Time has been named as one of America's 100 top most loved books and will be part of the Great American Read series on PBS:

THE GREAT AMERICAN READ is an eight-part series that explores and celebrates the power of reading, told through the prism of America’s 100 best-loved novels (as chosen in a national survey).  It investigates how and why writers create their fictional worlds, how we as readers are affected by these stories, and what these 100 different books have to say about our diverse nation and our shared human experience.
The television series features entertaining and informative documentary segments, with compelling testimonials from celebrities, authors, notable Americans and book lovers across the country. It is comprised of a two-hour launch episode in which the list of 100 books is revealed, five one-hour theme episodes that examine concepts common to groups of books on the list, and a finale, in which the results are announced of a nationwide vote to choose America’s best-loved book.
The series is the centerpiece of an ambitious multi-platform digital, educational and community outreach campaign, designed to get the country reading and passionately talking about books.
It seems past and present Superman actors have great taste in books:

Narg deleted a spoiler in between

Dear readers, oh my gentle friends, I have died a little inside this week. Reading the end of Chapter 30 was like having cavity drilled in my soul. After the dynamic excitement and vivid horror of the raven chase, Bornhald and Byar’s brutal good-cop, bad cop routine really set me back on my heels.
Narg's Mat Pop Vinyl commission is nearing completion. Here's what the box will look like:

Speaking of JordanCon, Quietstorm1989 over on r/wot shared this tidbit on Egwene (MAJOR SPOILERS!!!) from the RJ notes panel:
According to RJ’s outline, Egwene was supposed to be pregnant at the end of AMoL and Galad promises Gawyn (as Gawyn lays dying) to take care of Egwene and her baby.
From that you can extrapolate quite a bit about the things Sanderson changed and what he added.
